The Challenge
Mitre 10 New Zealand is the leader in hardware retail in New Zealand. After having managed their e-commerce website for 5 years Mitre 10 identified key areas of improvement. These included: enhancing the Mitre 10 brand in the online environment, improving the navigational structure, upgrading the existing website to allow access to a content management programme that allows flexibilty in how the website is displayed and improved search engine optimisation.
The Solution
The 'new look' Mitre 10 website was launched in March 2006.
The easy-to-use navigation encourages customers to interact online. With an increased product range of over 3000 items, and a new gift centre section showcasing special items from other departments, website sales have continued to increase steadily since the website launch.
Using Compose Content Management system, the web team now has access to change any image or text on the site as necessary, without having to involve programmers. Images and adverts can now be created on their own; these will change more frequently, keeping the site fresh and appealing.
A new format newsletter with pictures and product links has been created, and the web team now has the ability to manage their customer database of over 30,000 registered users inhouse.
Better browser compatibility means the new site is compatible across browsers such as Firefox.
Improved search engine optimistation has increased the website traffic. Using Compose Content Management software the web team can now add meta tags to all content and pages, making the content easier for search engines like Google to find.
The Brand and Strategy Manager of Mitre 10, Paula Arblaster, was pleased with our work ethic and the end result of the Mitre 10 website. "Working with WML on the revamp of our website was a remarkable change from previous website projects for us. WML understood our needs quickly and created user friendly solutions for us with a minimum of effort on our part. We never had to explain ourselves twice; WML listened, proposed a solution, and then created it as exactly as promised. We have had almost no errors in what is a highly complex, multi-functional site. I'm impressed!" (Paula Arblaster, Brand and Strategy Manager, Mitre10)
